Violin superstar Joshua Bell will highlight Spivey Hall‘s 2012-13 season, the esteemed southside venue has announced.

Bell, who will perform February 23, 2013, with pianist Sam Haywood, is among a luminous list of artists scheduled at the 400-seat concert hall, ranging from pianist Jeremy Denk to the Venice Baroque Orchestra to mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard. Denk will perform March 16, with Leonard’s recital a week later on March 24. The Venice Baroque, led by conductor and harpsichordist Andrea Marcon, will perform January 26.

Pianist Alessio Bax, in his Spivey Hall debut, will kick off the season in October. Others making their Spivey debuts will be pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, baritone Simon Keenlyside, countertenor Andreas Scholl, finger-style guitarist and vocalist Sam Pacetti, organist Ahreum Han and jazz group the Christian McBride Trio.

Other artists in this year’s series include jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard, the Elias String Quartet, male vocal ensemble Chanticleer and guitarist Xuefei Yang. The Jupiter String Quartet will return to perform two concerts for the third and final year of its “Project Jupiter” residency. Spivey also will welcome back pianist Richard Goode for the annual Spivey Memorial Concert on April 23.

The series will mark Spivey Hall’s 21st season of concerts.
