Help us shine a light on stalwarts who work behind the scenes

Every time a star performer takes a curtain call, there are dozens of people who never see the spotlight but were dedicated to making that performance happen. The same goes for every art exhibit, film festival, publication . . . you name it.

ArtsATL’s Behind the Scenes series will turn the spotlight in the other direction. Building on our successful “30 under 30” profiles of young artists last year, we will publish profiles of 12 people from across the disciplines who are the heartbeat behind Atlanta’s arts scene. We’re talking about such folks as stage hands, costume designers, art preparators, lighting designers, puppeteers, librarians and, yes, perhaps the forklift driver.

We need your help in funding this project. As with “30 under 30,” we are receiving a boost from the Office of Cultural Affairs’ Power2Give program. It will match what you give, dollar for dollar, up to $2,500.

We offer these incentives for different levels of giving:

$50 Acknowledgement on our Facebook page, and the above

$100 A special ArtsATL T-shirt, and all of the above

$250 High tea (or coffee) with the writers and their subjects, and all of the above
