When art critics make the news: Creative Loafing interviews ArtsCriticATL’s Cathy Fox

Our own Cathy Fox, the doyenne of Atlanta’s visual-art critics, was interviewed recently by Creative Loafing’s Cinqué Hicks. It’s the latest in a series he’s been writing for the alternative weekly on the local art and artist scene.

Cinqué is a good writer and a perceptive critic. His previous article surveyed the art-critic landscape. The title was delicious: “Arts blogs blur the distinction between knowledgeable writers and loudmouths.” The question is asked: How are Atlanta artists adapting to a changing critical media landscape?

The earlier pieces in the series looked at the younger generation of local art collectors and reviewed the Contemporary’s show “More Mergers & Acquisitions” as a chance to discuss “the promises and pitfalls of Atlanta’s art-collecting ethos.”
