Philip Freelon, the architect commissioned to design Atlanta’s Center for Civil and Human Rights, will speak at the Savannah College of Art and Design at 7 p.m. March 9. Free.
The architect, who is also busy working on the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, will speak about museum design. The lecture is co-sponsored by the National Organization of Minority Architects Atlanta, which will host NOMA’s annual conference here in October.
Meanwhile, the Society for Photographic Education will begin its national conference here on March 10. The theme is “Science, Poetry and the Photographic Image.” Abelardo Morell, known for his dreamy camera-obscura images, is an apt choice as keynote speaker.
