This weekend: Public art, tours and talks

Gyun Hur has begun installing “Spring Hiatus,” a floor piece composed of her signature shredded silk flowers, at Lenox Square mall in front of Macy’s.

Visitors are invited to watch her progress from 1 to 8 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays. Once completed, on March 11, the piece will be on view through March 25. Hur will discuss her work between 2 and 5 p.m. on March 12. Sponsored by Flux Projects.

Saturday, March 5

Tour the path  of the future Atlanta Streetcar with MARTA’s Paul Grether, the project manager for the construction on the 2.62 mile-corridor, which will begin in July. Meet at Techwood and Bobby Dodd Way at 9:30 a.m., or at the intersection of Peachtree and Ellis streets, the Peachtree Center MARTA Station, at 10 a.m.  Sponsored by Georgia Tech.

Keith Howard,  head of printmaking and research at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and artist Bernice Cross will conduct a workshop on photopolymer intaglio platemaking at the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, 675 Metropolitan Parkway S.W., No. 6026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Space is limited; call or email to reserve a spot.

Spruill Gallery will hold a noon artist talk concurrent with the group show “Align,” which includes Rex Brodie, Lucinda Bunnen, Blake Butler, Barrett Feldman, Margaret Fletcher, Julia Hill, Jeffrey Merritt, Mary O’Horo, Wynne Ragland, Rocio Rodriguez, Ashley Schick, Corinne Vionnet and George Vlosich.

Coming up
