Review: Childhood wonder vs. adult knowledge fuels Joseph Peragine’s “Nature Porn”

When Joseph Peragine visited New York’s Museum of Natural History as a child, the dioramas of animals in their natural habitats were a source of delight and wonderment. Returning with his own children, the Atlanta artist saw them differently.

The scenes now looked artificial, and the knowledge that the animals had been hunted for sport and museum display curdled his childhood memories. But something very good came of that disappointing experience: “Nature Porn,” his current exhibition at Solomon Projects. See my full review in the AJC.
