Lindner, who oversaw all noncuratorial matters, put her heart into the institution, which she had just helped lead through a successful renovation. She expressed deep sadness about leaving. “I’m so proud of what we’ve done,” she said.
Her departure comes on the heels of artistic director Stuart Horodner’s announcement that he will leave in June to become director of the University of Kentucky’s art museum. Although Lindner will be in California, she has offered to do all she can to help fill the gap until a successor is found.
“We have such good people and a great board,” she says, “so I’m confident it will be fine.”
