News: ArtFields announces its 2017 showcase artists, 12 from Atlanta

ArtFields®, the Southeastern arts competition based out of Lake City, SC, has announced the artists to be showcased in their 2017 show, 12 of whom are from Atlanta. The competition, which is open to 2- and 3-dimensional artists across a 12 state region, culminates in an art festival in Lake City, to take place April 21-29. There, the recipients to receive the festival’s Top Prize ($50,000), Juried Panel ($25,000) and two People’s Choice ($12,500) awards will be announced. The first four ArtFields competitions delivered nearly half a million dollars in cash prizes to regional artists, encouraging submissions by artists who live in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. To date, 16 out of 36 prize-winning artists came from outside of South Carolina. More than 60% of winning pieces were exhibited in non-traditional settings.

The twelve Atlantan’s to be included in the competition are Jess Bernhart, Robert Brou, Rebecca Coll, Andrew Feiler, Lisa Humphreys, Abigail Justman, David Landis, Julie Miller, Laura Noel, Elizabeth Ott, Mary Pousner, Leisa Rich, Kim-Huong Ruiz and Alexi Torres.
