The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs has worked hard of late to invigorate Downtown Atlanta through arts projects such as its street festival, Elevate. Now it has put down roots: Gallery 72, on the ground floor of the former AJC building at 72 Marietta Street, opens Thursday with exhibitions of Atlanta and national artists. Opening reception is from  6 to 8 p.m.
