What to see and do, April 29–May 17

Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville
Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville

This is a big weekend for the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Its new garden in Gainesville, land donated by Charles and Lessie Smithgall, will be one of the largest and most diverse woodland gardens in the country.

It will open Saturday with activities for children and much more. Concerts in its new amphitheater will kick off on June 13 with Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell.

In Midtown, ABG will open its latest art exhibition: site-specific light installations by British artist Bruce Munro will light up the grounds from the great lawn to Storza Woods.

Visit ArtsATL on Thursday and Friday for videos about each.
