ArtsCriticATL has learned that Louise Nevelson’s “Dawn Forest,” a multi-part installation in the lobby of the Georgia-Pacific Center, is leaving Atlanta.
Its owners, Georgia-Pacific LLC and MetLife, have donated the piece, said to be the late artist’s largest installation, to the Naples Museum of Art in Florida. The monochrome assemblage, which has stood in the lobby for more than 20 years, will be installed in the museum’s entrance lobby in October.
Rumors about the deaccessioning of the piece have been circulating for some time, including word that it had been offered to the High Museum of Art.
More to come ….
